The Democratic Popular Republic of Korea, one of the planet’s hermit kingdoms, is arguably one of the most intriguing places on earth. The secretive country appears regularly over the news for the excess of his leader, missile launch tests and cold war style stand offs between North and South.
Listed on the “Axis of Evil” countries by United States President George W. Bush along Irak and Iran in 2002 the country is visually synonym of the ever presence of military defiles and communism austerity. Led by the deceased permanent inspirational great leader Kim il song the DPRK is home to the 5th biggest army in the world.
Despite a lack of international news and no or little access to the Internet North Koreans are extremely aware of the representation they are given by news-angry medias from the outside.
A stay in the DPRK is a controversial and unique experience. The extremely welcoming inhabitants of the People’s Republic will go to a great length to make sure your stay is the most pleasurable, making the DPRK one of the most mis-represented country in the world by modern medias.
Both North and South Korea share a common history, culture and the same will of being reunited, but on year 101 of the Juche calendar (2012), the reunification seems a long way ahead.
